Young And Co.'s - 'The Coopers Arms'

The Coopers Arms, a local community pub in wealthy West London, revamped their website at the same time as revamping their pub. They needed the website to reflect that the pub was the ‘same pub but with a bit of sparkle.'

What they Wanted

The Coopers Arms wanted their new website to show off the newly refurbed pub to new and existing customers. It was recognised that while the site is good at attracting new customers there was no clear reason for customers to return to the site. The need for data capture and booking enquiries was to be maximised through the site too. The manager had introduced many different aspects in the pub, including a Chilli Club for fans of the favourite dish, the Coopers Chilli, the Claret Club and Dine with Wine, the seasonal Young’s promotion, and while pushing these messages online, the buttons didn’t quite fit in their existing template. They therefore needed to be incorporated in the new design so that buttons were not ‘stuck on’ as an afterthought.

What Propeller Delivered

Propeller designed the new site based on various aspects inside the recently refurbished pub. The wallpaper background was taken from the actual wallpaper used on one of the feature walls in the pub itself, matching up the branding and rustic feel. Large photography was used to really show the pub off. Propeller built space for five buttons to fit into the site template which can be changed as and when events and offers change at the Coopers. To help make the site interactive and encourage people to keep visiting, Propeller has integrated a ‘Community Board’ button as one of these five buttons into the site where people can send local adverts / community suggestions etc. Data capture is an important focus for the Coopers Arms and is pushed through the Coopers Gold Card, a loyalty card which gives members a different offer each month. As this is integrated into the site template, it is therefore on each page to maximise exposure and increase data capture. Propeller also integrated a booking enquiry form into the website template to help maximise bookings. To help increase social networking followers and members, the Twitter and Facebook logos are prominent throughout the site and a Coopers feed directly from Twitter is integrated into every page.

Result

The new site has more functionality, interaction and the large scale of the design makes it much more impressive. Large scale photography helps show off the interior and exterior of the pub. The integrated Twitter feed and Community Board help make the site interactive along with encouraging repeat visits.
